After helping the School weather the transition from Drew Smith, Bruce Haines left the School having accomplished much in a short time, including the hiring of the person that would replace him as Head of School, Beth Reaves. After serving as an Interim Head for a year, Beth became the eighth Head of School. She was the first African American to hold the position and the first woman to hold more than an Interim title since the very first Head of School, Mary Clare Wohlford. Enrollment continued to be a concern, however, and reductions in staffing led to the departure of popular and beloved teachers such as Nicole Donnelly, whose family (especially her mother, Brenda, who was an all-star volunteer and later a staff member) had done so much for the School over the years.
