A new tradition began on January 15th: a day of service on the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. While most schools simply closed on the holiday, Head of School Drew Smith and a faculty committee that was led by Jennifer Hrebin and included Wayne Copeland, Kathy Saia, and Corri Canfield, organized a day of volunteer activities for parents, students, and staff. All came together for a period of worship in the meetinghouse and then gave their time to make the world a better place in the spirit of Dr. King. In 2007, the key event was a bus trip to Friends Village so that community members could visit and spend time with their elders at this Quaker continuing care retirement facility in Woodstown, New Jersey. Later years would see the School continue its day of service with support for a variety of places and organizations, including the Ronald McDonald House, the ARC Bakery, and Philabundance.
