One of the great highlights of the Fall in 2006, as it had been since the 1970s, was the Fall Festival (originally called the Fall Village Fair). Thanks to volunteering parents and staff, the Festival that year was again full of games, vendors, returning alumni, community visitors, and children playing. Patti Sanderson, a teacher and a parent of alumni, remembered that “it was a community event where all of the parents volunteered and… my children just ran around and had lots of fun playing.” Wayne Copeland recalled his time as a student during the Fall Festival: “for us as kids” who had parents volunteering we knew that we would be there from “morning till night” and looked forward to “just running the grounds of Friends School, which was just like being home.” He remembered that “what I enjoyed was actually during the time coming with my mother and being here, helping her set up and just enjoying the field, the events. It was so many different things you could do, and I always remember coming constantly back to my mother asking for tickets for this or tickets for that…. We saw Friends School as a community and… a family.”
