One of the key goals of the Long-Range Plan discussed last time had been to “develop a master plan for the school’s facilities.” The School quickly made good on this goal by hiring an architectural firm with experience in planning. The resulting document was all that trustees could have hoped, as it was based on extensive outreach to all members of the community and based on the genuine program needs of the School. There were many suggestions that arose out of this plan, and the School would still be following up on some of its recommendations twenty years later! The School, however, acted promptly on the most important and pressing element of the plan. This was the need to construct a new building that would allow the School’s academic program to meet the changing needs of first-class education in the late 20th and early 21st century. The great effort put forward to make this happen by everyone in the community, from teachers to students to alumni to trustees, had not been seen since the earliest days of the School.
